Hair Protection.
Hair needs protection from the sun too. Sun damage is caused by both the UVA and UVB rays that penetrate the hair shaft. This leads to hair that is dry, dull, and more apt to break. Overall, it makes hair much more fragile.
The easiest way to protect hair from the rays of the sun is by wearing a hat that completely covers hair. You can opt for a baseball hat and tuck hair up inside the hat. Or you can go all out and invest in a wide-brimmed hat that will shield the hair, even when pulling it back or wearing it down.
Another way it to use a line of hair care products with UV filters in them. Aveda has a sun care line that both protects and helps to repair damage caused from the sun.
When in the sun, apply the Sun Care Protective Hair Veil to block out the harmful UV rays. Hair Veil is a “lightweight, water-resistant UV defense mist that forms an invisible screen to help protect hair from sun exposure for up to 16 hours, to minimize color fadage, damage and dryness.”
When you are finished basking in the sun, you need to use the Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser. “This is a color-safe formula that gently and effectively removes chlorine, salt and product build-up, while helping to maintain moisture balance.”
Finally, the last step in this “recovery” system is the Sun Care After-Sun Hair Masque. This is a very “intensive cream masque that restores sun-exposed hair, moisturizes, and helps defend against free radicals.”
